POLICE are appealing for information after a burglary and attempted burglary in Upper Stratton, Swindon.
Between 11am and 3pm on Thursday, July 9, a house in Pearce Close was broken into by offenders who smashed a door and stole cash and jewellery from inside.
Then, between 8.40am and 6.20pm yesterday, an attempted burglary took place at another house in the same street.
Offenders smashed a door panel but did not enter the address.
DC Rachel Prince said: "We are asking residents to be extra vigilant and to ensure all windows and doors are locked.
"Make sure you keep valuable items out of view and mark them with a property marking system. Never leave a spare key in a plant pot or letterbox - a thief will know where to look.
"Also, do not leave keys in the door or in reach of a letterbox or cat flap.
"If you see anyone acting suspiciously take down any vehicle registration numbers and contact Wiltshire Police on 101 or, if a crime is in progress, dial 999."
Anyone with information on these two incidents should call the Priority Crime Team on 01793 267014 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously if preferred.
