WHILE the parliamentary candidates are nervously awaiting the results at the Swindon general election count in the Oasis others will be partying election night away and raising money for a Swindon special school.
The Great Western Hotel is planning an all-night event on June 8 with sweepstakes, donation buckets and games following the results as they come in.
Clientele will be able to have fun guessing the winners before the returning officers make their announcements.
Manager Tom Titcombe said as soon as he and the owner heard a general election was going to be held they decided they wanted to do something special.
Brimble Hill in North Swindon has been chosen as the hotel’s charity of the year and cash raised during the event will be used to provide things like specialist equipment, sensory resources as well as pay for residential trips for the pupils or help fund a new minibus.
Normally the pub in Station Road is licenced until 2am, but on election night it has a special event licence and will be calling time at 6am, when it is expected the majority of results will be in.
The party starts at 10.30pm.
