AN exotic aroma of distant shores can now be found wafting from the upstairs window of a popular Old Town restaurant.
Old Town Thai on Wood Street threw open the doors to their staircase on Thursday night for a sneak preview of their new venture, which opened for business last night.
The restaurant has launched a new concept in casual Northern and Southern Thai fusion – Tuk-Tuk Towers, offering a variety of Thai dishes in tapas form.
The first floor venue of the restaurant in Wood Street has been completely refurbished to reflect the colourful feel of Thailand, while a team of chefs in the kitchen prepare a variety of tapas dishes that allow diners to sample and share each freshly made dish.
In addition to the kitchen, the restaurant also offers a snug bar stocked with gins, wines, Prosecco, beers and fresh fruit cocktails.
Owner Craig Gavin said he was delighted to be opening the new venture, after throwing the doors open for an exclusive preview night on Thursday night for invited guests.
He said: “Due to the success of the small portions from the Old Town Thai, it just seemed the way to go forward - to produce exactly that: smaller portions and more choice.
"We have also created a snug bar so you don’t need to book a table to enjoy a drink in our new venue – it’s a versatile environment to start or end your evening.”
