A CAR fire brought 999 crews to a town centre multi-storey this morning.
Three fire crews from Westlea, Stratton and Drove Road fire stations were called to the car blaze at the Fleming Way multi-storey car park shortly before 11.30am.
Police shut part of College Street beneath the car park while firefighters tackled the fire.
Officers believe that the fire was started deliberately.
A spokeswoman for Wiltshire Police said: "Anyone with information should call police on 101."
However, there have been some suggestions that the fire started accidentally as a result of issues with the car's engine.
Kat Dodson, 35, had parked nearby.
She said: "All I saw was the black smoke pouring out from the first floor of the car park.
"My car was on the same level as the fire, so I was really worried.
"I asked the firemen what had happened and they said there was a fault with a car and the engine had blown up."
