Two separate, if similar, applications made by the same developer on the same plot of land will be discussed by councillors on Swindon Borough Council’s planning committee next week.
And officers have recommended that they refuse permission to both schemes.
Developer Martin Wilson lodged an application in 2015 to build a modern barn-type three-bed single- storey home, in a right-angled shape, on land in Hinton Parva near Wanborough, at the junction of Short Drive and City Corner.
At the moment a garage sits on the land.
At the same time Mr Wilson has put in another application last year for the plot, which could see a more radical two-storey barn-type home built with a canopy at its front.
Officers have recommended refusing the first application because they feel the plan would not enhance the area of open land and is not part of the agreed development area.
The second plan is recommended for refusal on the grounds that the design is not of a high enough quality to outweigh the shortcomings of the scheme.
