Workers and their representatives at Honda will try and 'shame' the management of the car giant into keeping its Swindon plant open and working, the Unite union convenor at South Marston told councillors.
Jim Brennan spoke form the public gallery at the start of the full council meeting of Swindon Borough Council - a meeting dominated by the announcement made by the company just two days before.
He said: "We will be lobbying Honda Japan and we need to shame the employer into staying here.
"Warm words won't help us, and we are not interested in jobs fairs, or CV writing courses. We have the most skilled and dedicated workforce in the UK car industry here in Swindon."
