ASPIRING young models who fell into doing pageants after a house fire gutted their bedrooms have walked their second runway at London Fashion Week.
Ayla and Euan Schaub, aged 11 and 10, from Moredon, showed off the ME brand at the Ikon Show in the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in Kensington last week.
The two youngsters got into modelling when an electrical fire destroyed the inside of their family home two years ago.
At the time Ayla was due to enter her first pageant but after support from local beauty queen Hannah Golding, who arranged charity and support to replace many of the family’s possessions, they haven’t looked back.
Mum Jemma Hilden told the Adver: “The pageant community really looked after us and provided us with dresses so we could still compete.
“Our whole first floor was gone, they would have died if they had gone to bed when I told them,” she added.
“With pageants it’s very community-focused, a lot of the members look out for each other, and we just fell in with the right crowd.”
The children both started out doing charity pageants before some modelling work and have gone on to win national titles.
On May 11 they will both take part in Manchester Kids Fashion Festival International, competing at the event with each other to fundraise for a health centre in Africa with charity Cancel Cancer Africa.
Ayla is currently Young European Jr Miss Wiltshire 2019, after competing in November for Jr Miss Young European International.
She told the Adver: "The fashion show was amazing, I felt a bit nervous because it's a big audience, but I really enjoyed it. It had made me more confident"
Euan, who said he has inspired some of his friends to take up modelling, added: "It makes me feel good because I like to help other people improve their quality of life, and that's really important.
"I also get to experience being myself so I feel like I can be what I want to be."
Mum Jemma added: “When the opportunity to do charity catwalks came up the kids jumped at it”
“As a mother I’m very proud that my children have turned a family crisis into a positive and are motivated to use their experiences to help others when opportunities arise.”
In the meantime they will be making and selling their own crafts, like Easter bunnies, with every penny raised going towards the charity.
