COMING home after a long week Ian Tayler wasn't expecting any visitors.
The 61-year-old local bus driver had just clocked off from a ten-hour shift when he arrived home to find the People’s Postcode Lottery team waiting outside his front door.
When he pulled his cheque for £353, 547 out the golden envelope, still wearing his uniform from his shift, he said:
“The first thing I’m going to do is book a first-class ticket to Australia to visit my daughter Nicole and my two-year-old granddaughter Violet.
“Nicole moved there six years ago and I’ve been over a few times and I can never seem both enough. Travelling first class will be a real treat – it’s something I never thought would be possible. Winning this money won’t change me – I’ll get a few bits round the house fixed but I’ll still be back driving my bus on Monday.”
MORE NEWS: The houses that won the lottery
The jackpot win by three players was close to the maximum possible amount, of £400,000, that any player can win, possibly helped by it being on a short cul-de-sac with only nine houses.
Everyone of the players with the winning SN5 8 postcode was a winner, with hundreds of people getting enough to splash out on a holiday.
One person scooped the second highest prize of £11,680, seven people won, £8,760, 53 got £5,840, and a total of 533 won £2,920
