THIS photograph was taken at the old Pizza Express branch in Swindon’s Havelock Square in April of 1989.
The Oscars are real and belonged to the man with the cornet.
Animator Richard Williams, who died recently aged 86, won the two Academy Awards for his work on Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
He had already won one 18 years earlier for an adaptation of A Christmas Carol.
When not working as one of the greatest practitioners of his art, he was an enthusiastic jazz musician with his own band, Dix Six.
The sextet came to Swindon for a Pizza Express gig, and the Oscar-winner was happy to pose for pictures and meet fans.
