THE Adver originally ran this picture on Thursday, August 27, 1970.
It shows 20-year-old Liddington man Tom Kilminster with a 1934 Singer van acquired from an uncle in 1968.
The van, said Tom, had been used by the family building firm during World War Two, but had originally belonged to a Swindon tailor and outfitter.
Tom, drove it to work in Bourton every day.
There is no further mention of him in our archives, but as recently as 2015 the van was for sale at £16,000 with a specialist dealer.
It was described as being the only surviving example in the world, and as having been kept in storage since the mid-1980s.
