Smyths Toys’ bid to move on to Greenbridge Retail Park has been approved.
The toy chain had applied to Swindon Borough Council to change the layout of the unit, which has previously been occupied by PC World.
The unit will also be divided into two. with Smyths taking the larger, left hand side of the shop.
When the Adver revealed last month the store wanted to come to Swindon, the response was very positive.
Dona Green said: "It would be so good to see in Swindon."
Carly Seager said she and her husband would no longer have to make the trip to Cheltenham for the store there.
Karen Smith said: "I thought it might've gone in the old Toys R Us building but I'm so happy it's coming to Swindon no matter where."
Angela Hayes had a simple reaction: "Brilliant."
This would be the first store in Swindon run by Irish company Smyths, which has 110 stores across the UK and Ireland.
