THE most evocative images in our archive are often those which simply capture daily life.
This photograph was taken in 1988 in what would not be Royal Wootton Bassett for another 23 years.
It was used in an advertising feature for the Apsley House arcade, which is still a familiar High Street feature.
A woman with a child who would now be in his mid-thirties browses a display of fabrics outside a clothes shop, Cheney Manor Bakeries advertises a new range of cakes and pastries, and we can see a shoe repair workshop and a gents’ outfitters.
Keen-eyed readers will spot a flyer for a local drama group’s production of Hello Dolly.
