There are only three days left until the Morrisons at Regent Circus closes for good.
Earlier this month, the Adver revealed the firm's final decision to shut the shop.
Despite efforts to keep the store open, including a petition signed by more than 1,000 people, it will be closing permanently at 4pm on Sunday.
Stan Pajak, one of the town centre's ward councillors and the person who started the petition, is sad to see the store leave and fears for the town centre.
He said: “It’s incredibly sad. You go down there now and there’s loads of empty shelves and signs saying they’re closing. It’s a horrible feeling.
“The staff are feeling very down too. It’s a tremendous loss.”
“It’s not great for the town centre. Nothing is happening, which is really the story of Swindon at the moment.
“Even at Regent Circus we’ve already lost Tiffins and Gourmet Burger Kitchen, now we have to add this massive unit to the list.
But borough councillor Dale Heenan, has made efforts to ensure that the store will not sit empty for long.
He has contacted firms including Tesco, Lidl and Aldi in an attempt to find a replacement, with Tesco representatives agreeing to sit down with him and South Swindon MP Robert Buckland over the possibility of taking the unit.
The supermarket's closure is the latest in a long line in the town centre, which includes Argos, Starbucks and Thorntons. Further afield, Greenbridge Retail Park has lost Homebase and Carpetright and Ed’s Easy Diner closed at Swindon Designer Outlet.
