THE biggest cinema story this week in 1972 was the upcoming release of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
Its star, chosen after a nationwide search, was Fiona Fullerton, 16-year-old daughter of a Shrivenham-based Army officer, whose later roles included that of a KGB agent in 1985 Bond film a View to a Kill.
At a party ahead of the Royal premiere, Fiona met VIPs including Lord Mountbatten, an uncle of Prince Philip.
Another actress pictured was Diana Dors, who jetted off to Canada to discuss a film project.
