THIS photograph was taken on Tuesday, February 6, 1990.
A corner of the distinctive Kingsbridge Point roof can be seen at the far right, and is a clue to where the Adver’s photographer was standing.
When we printed the image nearly 30 years ago, the caption said the old County Courts and offices in Clarence Street were to be pulled down to make way for a new benefit office.
The new building was put up and still stands, but has not been a benefit office for several years.
The section at the corner of Clarence Street and Euclid Street stood empty before being converted into a restaurant specialising in desserts.
