EXTINCTION Rebellion Swindon will hold a ‘die-in’ event at the Designer Outlet on Friday.
Members of the environmental activist group are preparing to march through the shopping centre at midday then lie on the floor for “a short while”.
As bargain-hunters look for Black Friday deals from big brands around the outlet, XR members will aim to raise awareness of the climate emergency.
The group is pushing for the government to do more to tackle climate change and its effects.
Before 1pm, they plan to get up off the floor and head back out of the outlet, singing songs as they go.
A spokesman said: “There will be no more Black Fridays on a dead planet.”
This planned activism follows the Extinction Rebellion logo being graffitied onto a Swindon Borough Council sign outside the civic offices a few weeks ago.
The yellow chalk stencil of the group’s hour glass logo was removed by the council before being re-sprayed more than once.
