THIS Territorial Regiment of Artillery convoy was photographed at the Old Town end of Bath Road on May 3, 1936.
The men were on their way to a military exercise on the downs between Liddington and Ogbourne.
We can pinpoint the location because the gateposts outside what is now the Museum and Art Gallery, although smaller these days, retain their distinctive tops.
We can pinpoint the date because in the early 1990s, when we first printed this image and asked for information, we were contacted by a Mr RM Froud, who took part in the exercise.
The Territorial Regiment of Artillery was stationed at the Drill Hall in Prospect Place.
