A TORCHLIT procession made its way through Penhill on the evening of Friday, October 8, 1982.
It was organised by the Valley Residents Group, and the Adver was invited to send a photographer.
This image appears to be the only survivor of the ones we captured that, and was probably kept because it is so striking and intriguing.
The young people pictured, including the small child in the middle, have masks, and some participants wear bibs bearing symbols.
We should be delighted to hear from anybody in the picture, and from anybody else who took part in what must have been a remarkable community event the best part of four decades ago.
