THERE are some toys that remain favourites for decades.
In the 1990s Teletubbies and Barbie topped the Christmas lists for many Swindon children. The Teletubbies have long since been overtaken, but Barbie is still amusing the latest generation of little ‘uns.
Pelham Puppets, which were made down the road in Marlborough, could be bought from McIlroy’s department store in the 1960s.
Thirty years later another 1960s puppet, Captain Scarlet, was enjoying a resurgence in popularity.
