VOLUNTEERS at a Swindon charity have turned their passion for sewing into a lifesaving effort.
Dressability members have been hard at work sewing hundreds of masks to donate to care homes that are running low on personal protective equipment.
Since this charitable effort began at the start of April, they have now delivered 1,015 items of personal protective equipment around the community.
They have made masks, scrub bags, protective sleeves for Covid-19 testing, and moisture proof gowns.
Grateful medical staff at care homes and Great Western Hospital received the extra equipment. Volunteers are now making gowns for Prospect Hospice.
The sewing staff have not been furloughed so that they can keep supporting those in need of PPE.
