EMMA Faramarzi has left the Conservative group on Swindon Borough Council and is now an independent.
The Haydon Wick councillor follows in the footsteps of her partner Coun Oliver Donachie, who resigned from the Tory cabinet and group last week. He cited concerns about giving too many powers to unelected council officers.
Coun Faramarzi has not spoken about her departure from the group and her political Twitter page, which has not been used recently, still describes her as a Conservative.
The departure of the two members leaves the Conservatives in Euclid Street with a workable majority of four councillors. There are 30 Conservatives, 22 Labour members, two Liberal Democrats and two independents. One seat is vacant after the death of Labour councillor Des Moffatt in November.
