A NEW coronavirus testing site set up in a Wroughton park-and-ride opened today.
The outdoor facility off Croft Road and Pipers Way can test up to 2,000 people per day and is expected to remain there for at least six months.
The main entrance off Croft Road was gated off for deliveries only while cones and signs near the Nationwide roundabout directed motorists who had booked appointments to enter via Pipers Way.
People in high-visibility jackets kept watch, some wearing sunglasses and sunhats to fend off the scorching sunshine and 23-degree heat.
A similar testing centre opened in the County Ground car park in mid-May and initially only allowed key workers and elderly people showing symptoms to book appointments. The government has since broadened testing capabilities to include adults and children of all ages.
