THE final official clap to thank NHS and key workers took place last week, after its creator said it should end.

For the past 10 weeks, Clap for Carers brought together communities to show their support for those working on the frontline during the coronavirus pandemic.

But founder Annemarie Plas said it was time to stop the weekly applause because of concerns the event has become politicised.
