Around 60 children and staff at Brook Field Primary School have been sent home after a pupil tested positive for coronavirus.
The Shaw school said the youngster was in the Foundation stage - the name given to reception classes. All Foundation stage students and staff have been sent home to self-isolate for the next 14 days.
Brook Field headteacher Dan Clarke said the school had contacted Public Health England immediately after being told the student had tested positive for covid. Teachers were following official health advice.
In a statement, Mr Clarke told the Adver: "I can confirm that the school was contacted over the weekend where we were informed a child had tested positive for Covid-19 in our Foundation Stage.
"We contacted Public Health England immediately and are following all their advice. This has included shutting the Foundation Stage bubble down for the next 14 days and asking all parents and staff within that bubble to follow the Stay at Home guidance from the government."
Brook Field follows Walcot primary school Lainesmead and secondary school Royal Wootton Bassett Academy in sending students home following coronavirus scares.
Last week, Swindon Borough Council director of public health said such incidents were to be expected as pupils returned to school.
