THE MP for North Swindon has called the closure of the Oasis Leisure Centre unacceptable and suggested any other planned developments from the landlord should be stopped.
Justin Tomlinson said: "This is unacceptable. Whilst it is disappointing GLL couldn't make it work, Seven[Capital] (owners) have a duty to provide leisure facilities.
"Failure to do so and SBC should cancel any potential development schemes and reclaim the Oasis.
"This isn't a surprise, a plan should be in place."
His South Swindon counterpart Robert Buckland added: “The Oasis is a very important local amenity for us all here in Swindon.
"I have already spoken to the owners of the site, Severn Capital and urged them to work closely with Swindon Borough Council to find a way forward that will allow the Oasis to reopen and for improvements to be made to a much loved local amenity.
“I will carry on working to try and achieve a positive outcome for all of us who know and love the Oasis.”
