Homeless and vulnerable people will be given a treat this Christmas.
Private hire taxi firm V Cars has donated 240 selection boxes to Christmas Care Swindon, a project which provides hot Christmas dinners to the homeless and vulnerable over the festive period.
The group, which is run entirely by volunteers and a small committee, is funded by donations and has had to suspend its usual donation days because of Covid.
The project will open its doors to guests from December 22 until December 29, between 9am-11am for a cooked breakfast and 2pm-4pm for lunch and the treats provided by V Cars.
Diane Killick, Chair Person at the project said: “We are very grateful for V Cars’ generous gesture and their wonderful donations will be shared with the many who visit us.”
Jack Price, Regional Director for V Cars which is part of the Veezu Group, said: “Christmas Care Swindon offers invaluable support within the local community and lockdown has been especially challenging for those with nowhere to call home.
“The project has been impacted by the pandemic because of volunteers having to self-isolate or because of money being tighter than usual for regular donators. We really hope this gesture goes some small way to alleviate the pressures on the charity.”
