These are the air rifles found on a man who blew five times the legal drink drive limit after he was arrested.
Police swooped after reports of Joseph McLaughlin holding one of the weapons in The Parade in Swindon town centre on Sunday afternoon.
He’d told a town centre security guard he would “shoot someone”. Taken to the police station, the 31-year-old said he’d had the weapons as he wanted to protect his family. He blew 171 on the breath test machine – almost five times the legal drink drive limit.
He received a six month jail sentence suspended for two years. You can read our report from court here.
Speaking after the sentencing hearing at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Monday, Det Sgt Justin Downes said: "I am pleased that this man has been dealt with so quickly by the judicial system.
"It's completely irresponsible and dangerous to brandish any weapon in public - especially when there are so many people around.
"I hope this sentence and the subsequent help offered will now give this man the opportunity to turn his life around."
