Computer giant Intel has renewed its sponsorship of the Swindon Town Community Foundation until 2023.

The company, based in Swindon, has backed the group since 2011 and has a connection to Swindon Town after sponsoring the construction of the Don Rogers Stand in 1994.

Head of the foundation Jon Holloway said: “It means so much to us that Intel would approach the Foundation to reaffirm this partnership ahead of its renewal date.

“It’s been a difficult year for everyone and as a charitable foundation it has been extremely challenging.

“However, Intel were able to see the work that we’ve been doing in the community during the pandemic, and by continuing as our main sponsors it sends a message that we are committed to making a difference together.

“We are very proud to have Intel as our main sponsors and we’d like to make special mention and give thanks to Darren Howell at Intel, who has been instrumental in ensuring this partnership has been successful over the past nine years, and hopefully many more years to come.”

The community foundation spent the festive period with the Swindon Town Supporters Club supporting people in the foundation's Tackling Loneliness Together programme.

It dished out more than 100 parcels on Christmas Eve which included food essentials, Christmas puddings, mince pies, lots of chocolates, and gifts such as baseball caps, drinks bottles, books, mugs and more.

Hannah Clinch from the supporters' club said: “It’s been a very tough year for everyone and we’re delighted to be have been working with the team at Foundation Park to spread a little happiness to fellow Town fans this Christmas.

"It was amazing to be able to go out with the foundation and make these deliveries, and see first-hand the look on the fans’ faces, and see what a difference these parcels can make.”
