Swindon and Wiltshire Pride has received £1,000 from Persimmon Homes for its next Pride event.
Persimmon Homes Wessex donated the funds the group through its Community Champions scheme, an initiative that each month match funds two community good causes up to the value of £1,000.
Swindon and Wiltshire Pride has held an annual event since 2008, bringing together communities across Wiltshire and beyond in a celebration of LGBTQ+ rights, diversity and inclusion for all. 2019’s event saw a record breaking 10,000 people attend across the day.
Phoenix Stewart, on behalf of the group, said: “We hope for SWP 2021 to be the most inclusive event yet and really encompass everyone with our theme "we are family". To achieve this, we want to include more assistance for our visitors with disabilities to show they are supported and included. These could include things like BSL interpreters, a quiet zone, hidden disability bands to assist parents with vulnerable children, specialist toilets and changing facilities.
“This £1,000 donation will go towards funding this and we are delighted to have the support of Persimmon Homes Wessex.”
Pauline Fletcher, sales and marketing director for Persimmon Homes Wessex, said: “Swindon and Wiltshire Pride is a great example of communities coming together, and we are really proud to be able to donate this funding to the SWP 2021 event plans.”
