Football club manager attacked sister's ex
The manager of an amateur football club in north Swindon headbutted his sister’s partner at his own birthday party.
Luke Brennan was sent to prison for 14 months earlier this month.
Judge Peter Crabtree said: “This was a brutal attack when you were intoxicated in which you headbutted your victim and followed through with two punches, causing him serious injuries that have had an ongoing impact upon him.
“The only sentence that is appropriate to reflect the seriousness of that offence is an immediate custodial one.”

Michael Merchant was sent to prison for two years for splitting his mum’s head open in a drunken assault, which started after she threw a drink at him.
The 45-year-old admitted GBH, breaching a restraining order banning him from contacting his mum and threatening to cause criminal damage.
Judge Peter Crabtree said: “She was your mother and you should have treated her with respect.”

Hotel binge ended with man biting nose
Lee Little Picture: WILTSHIRE POLICE
Thug Lee Little bit off the tip of his girlfriend’s son’s nose after bingeing on rum and rosé wine in a Swindon hotel room.
Sending Little to prison for 22 months, Judge Peter Crabtree said the sentence was within the range where it could be suspended.
But he added: “This is not a case where a suspended sentence is appropriate. Having regard to the sentencing guideline on the imposition of custody sentences the offences are simply too serious given the aggravating features for any sentence other than an immediate custodial one.”

Behar Kasemi used a branch to repeatedly strike an innocent cyclist on a dark path near Greenbridge retail park.
But the 47-year-old, who was raging that police had earlier failed to get a taxi to take him home from the police station, was spared an immediate jail sentence after Swindon Crown Court heard he had been suffering from a mental health episode at the time of the assault.
He was given two years’ imprisonment suspended for two years. He must complete the thinking skills programme.
