A YEOVIL man was tailed to Trowbridge by armed police after a firearm was found in the wake of an alleged assault.
Armed officers were stationed outside the house in the Longfield estate for several hours this afternoon.
Two men were arrested before 4.30pm from the house in Bramley Lane.
A 34-year-old man from Yeovil was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm in a public place, assault, escape from lawful custody and assaulting a police officer.
A 32-year-old Trowbridge man has also been arrested and taken to Melksham police station.

Avon and Somerset Police said its officers were called to a house in Crofton Park, Yeovil, at around 8.05am today following reports of an assault. It is not believed anyone was injured in the alleged assault.
A spokesman for the force said: "Officers sought to detain a man in connection with the incident, but he left the scene by car after assaulting a police officer.
“Shortly afterwards a firearm was found unattended nearby and safely recovered by trained officers ahead of examination."
He added: "Officers have been on patrol in the Yeovil area conducting house-to-house enquiries and high-visibility patrols.
"Witnesses who have not yet spoken to police can call 101 and give reference number 5221076981."
