THE first results have been announced for Swindon's local elections.

The Conservatives have held Blunsdon and Highworth by a large margin.
Coun Vijay Manro joins the ward after receiving 2,075 votes.
This is more than double Labour candidate Keir Baynham's 867 votes.
Andrew Day of the Green Party came third with 442 votes.
Liberal Democrat Michael Heal followed with 137 votes.
Independent candidate Tara Hurst received 126 votes.
The results for Mannington and Western are in:
Coun Kevin Small from the Labour Party stays in his post after receiving 1,184 votes.
Conservative candidate Suresh Gattapur was not far behind with 1,052 votes.
The Green Party's candidate Nichola Iddon received 163 votes
Liberal Democrat Deborah King had 87 votes.
Independent candidate Deborah Fine had 71 votes.
Ian Baxter of The For Britain Movement received just 46 votes.
Labour hold Old Town as Coun Jane Milner-Barry is re-elected with 1,781 votes
Conservative candidate Elliot Lawrence came second with 1,196 votes.
John Huges of the Green Party's 210 votes placed him third.
Liberal Democrat Martin Wiltshire received 194 votes.
Independent candidate Stephen Woodham had 59 votes.
Timothy Almond of the Libertarian Party received just 23 votes.
Conservatives retain their hold on Wroughton and Wichelstowe as Coun Brian Ford is re-elected with 1,547 votes.
And the party gained from the Liberal Democrats as Coun David Martyn is elected with 1,335 votes.
Liberal Democrat Martin Barrett received 858 votes and fellow Lib Dem Adam Poole received 735 votes.
Green Party candidates Philippa and Simon Fairbourn received 341 and 206 votes respectively.
Md Hamid from the Labour Party received 257 votes while colleague Zohaib Tariq received 195 votes.
Independent Shanti Mabberley came last with 46 votes.

Conservatives hold Chiseldon and Lawn as Coun William Horley is elected with 1,384 votes.
Labour's Mohammad Khatib came second with 539 votes.
Paul Sunners of the Green Party placed third with 299 votes
Liberal Democrat Ahmed Fareed received 197 votes
Independent candidate Wayne Barrowman had 99 votes.
The Conservatives gain Haydon Wick as Coun John Jackson is elected with 1,469 votes.
Independent candidate and former Conservative party member Oliver Donachie is out after receiving 896 votes.
The Labour Party candidate Daniel Davis received 739 votes.
Jacek Zmarzlik of the Green Party received 191 votes.
Independent Vincent Montgomery received 49 votes.
The Conservatives hold Lydiard and Freshbrook as Coun Matthew Courtliff is re-elected with 1,644 votes.
Patricia Philpot from the Labour Party was not far behind with 1,011 votes.
Green Party member Glynis Hales received 200 votes.
Liberal Democrat Christopher Shepherd had 170 votes.
Independent candidate Julie Jones had 126 votes.
Labour hold Gorse Hill and Pinehurst as Ray Ballman is re-elected with 1,406 votes.
Carl Jones of the Conservatives came second with 1,134 votes.
Andrew Bentley from the Green Party had 291 votes.
Liberal Democrat Joseph Polson received 118 votes.
Independent candidate Andrew Osborne received 71 votes.

Conservatives gain Rodbourne Cheney from Labour with a victory by Sudha Sri Nukana, who received 1,396 votes.
Labour's Pamela Adams came second with 1,224 votes.
Green Party candidate Rod Hebden placed third with 222 votes.
Independent candidate Alexandra Pearce received 105 votes.
Liberal Democrat Geoffrey King received 87 votes.
Conservatives won another gain from Labour in Penhill and Upper Stratton as Daniel Smith narrowly ekes out a lead with 1,262 votes.
Ravi Venkatesh from the Labour Party came second with 1,130 votes.
Green Party candidate Katharine Henery came third with 155 votes.
Liberal Democrat Michelle Horrobin followed with 114 votes.
Lastly, independent Daniel Legg received 102 votes.
A hat trick of wins in this round for the Conservatives as Coun Barbara Parry is re-elected to Covingham and Dorcan with 2,254 votes.
Ronald WIlson from Labour trailed behind with 779 votes.
Liberal Democrat Ionel Tamas bagged 137 votes.
Independent Clare Bartholomew received 122 votes.
Labour has lost the Central ward to the Conservatives as Lourenco Fernandes wins 2,230 votes.
Labour candidate Rajhia Ali came second with 1,603 votes.
Liberal Democrat Garry Porter came third with 242 votes.
Independent candidate Helen Dunn received 193 votes.

Round four begins with the Conservatives easily holding onto the Ridgeway ward, with Gary Sumner re-elected after winning 1,004 votes.
Liberal Democrat Fiona McAnespie came a distant second with 199 votes.
Sam James of the Labour Party placed third with 144 votes.
Independent candidate Kevin Ritchie received 30 votes.
The Conservatives gain Liden, Eldene and Park South as Curtis Flux is elected with 1,475 votes.
Labour's Stephen Allsopp was not far behind with 1,173 votes.
Liberal Democrat Malcolm Salmon came third with 145.
Independent candidate Martin Costello had the least votes with a total of 123.
Conservatives hold Priory Vale as Joanne Golds is elected with 1,470 votes.
Ian Edwards from Labour received 891 votes.
Green Party candidate Stephen Litchfield won 211 votes.
Independent Elena Mari had 138 votes.
After a close vote, Labour gains Eastcott as Marina Strinkovsky is elected with 1,315 votes.
Long-serving Liberal Democrat Stan Pajak has lost his seat after finishing second with 1,271 votes.
Conservative candidate Bhawna Goyal received 682 votes.
Independent Leslie Valat-Desgranges had 102 votes.

Labour holds Walcot and Park North as Mohammed Mia is elected with 1,619 votes.
Francisco Goes from the Conservatives received 895 votes.
Liberal Democrat Dawn Pajak had 235 votes.
Independent candidate Sharon Newham received 138 votes.
Conservative councillor Russell Holland remains in his role at St Margaret and South Marston after winning 1,984 votes.
Labour Party candidate Barrie Jennings came second with 1,207 votes.
Kate Freeman of the Greens received 195 votes.
Independent Sarah Benham had 106 votes.
Conservatives hold Shaw as councillor Keith Williams is elected with 1,718 votes.
Thomas Smith from Labour came second with 872 votes.
Nigel Kimber of the Greens received 365 votes.
Independent candidate Jonathan Da Silva had 102 votes.
Conservatives hold the last ward to be announced, St Andrews, as Daniel Adams is re-elected with 2,078 votes.
Jason Mills from Labour came second with 936 votes.
Bradley Williams of the Green Party came third with 555 votes.
Independent Beverly Elmer had 153 votes.
