A DANCE school is having a fun day to raise funds for a pupil battling an aggressive cancer.
Charlotte Johnson's School of Dance and Musical Theatre (CJSD) has organised the event for six-year-old Avaya Powell who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in 2019.
The school are helping to fundraise for alternative treatments not available on the NHS. Avaya has been with the school for three years.
Managing director of the school Charlie Hicks said: “Our dance school is really a family, as well as learning to dance and perform we take care of each other and we all felt the need to do something to help Avaya.”
“Her sister, Elodie, has been with us for five years so Avaya has been coming in since she was about six months old.”
“Everyone has been really on board. Especially my senior pupils who have each taken on something to organise.”
The event will have plenty for people to enjoy with a bouncy castle, cake stall, a presentation from CJSD students, face painting and lots more with a small donation requested upon entry.
The fun day will be on the Peatmoor Primary School field tomorrow (July 18) from midday until 4 pm. All proceeds will be going to Avaya’s treatment.
