A BREAST cancer charity is hosting fundraising events to help women in the town.
Aurora Breast Cancer Wellbeing is running a car boot sale without the boot at the Grange Community Centre on July 31 from 12 pm until 3 pm with half the proceeds going to the charity.
Trustee Ellie Chudleigh said: “Aurora wants to make a difference to young local women with breast cancer and all funds we receive are only ever spent locally.”
“Three of the trustees, including myself have had breast cancer so we want to help other young women in Wiltshire with a breast cancer diagnosis.”
Aurora currently has six trustees and was set up in 2015 by leading breast surgeon, Anushka Chaudhry and specialist breast care nurse, Charlayne Harding who both work in Swindon.
It has held various fund raisers in the past including a charity ball and a book sale.
A play called Two by Jim Cartwright was held at The Angel, in Purton on July 8, and at The Heart in Hand, in Blunsdon on July 9, with some proceeds going to Aurora.
The charity puts young women in touch with others going through breast cancer via two WhatsApp groups which are free to join.
Ellie added: “We also have supper club meals every two months and during lock down I personally visited women from the WhatsApp group to deliver free goody bags from Avon.”
“Aurora plans to do lots in the next twelve-months and is appealing for any local businesses to support us by holding fundraising events.”
It has a Facebook and Instagram page called Aurora Breast Cancer Wellbeing.
