TRAVELLERS which set up camp on the Highworth Recreation Ground have now left.
Police gave the group a final deadline of 10am to remove their caravans and cars from the public space.
People in the area claim no police turned up at 10am to enforce this, though the travellers began leaving the area just after midday.
The group has caused problems for peple in the town since they were moved on from the field along Wootton Bassett Road on Wednesday evening.
Pubs and the Highworth leisure centre closed due to safety concerns, a mum claiming she nad her four-year-old daughter were verbally abused, neighbours complained about the mess, and the town council issued a warning after water troughs for the nearby allotments on the old golf course were contaminated with human faeces.
The Highworth Recreation Centre has now reopened.
