NEW College hopes to help former Honda workers learn new skills to find work now that the plant has closed.
The merger of the two Swindon-based colleges in 2020 has created a forward-thinking organisation which benefited from millions of pounds of investment in skills training.
Higher-level skills training, including degree apprenticeships, will be available from September as part of the £21 million investment in the new Swindon and Wiltshire Institute of Technology.
The college has secured millions of pounds for industry-standard equipment in health and social care, early years, science, e-sports and computing and cyber training.
New College has secured substantial funding to enable adults without a Level 3 qualification such as A-levels and BTECs to gain one starting in September, free of charge.
The fees for many of these courses would normally be several thousands of pounds and include accounting, team management, networking and cyber security, construction and healthcare support..
