A DRIVER accused of deliberately running over and killing a cat is to face trial in the New Year.
Harkiran Popli, 46, of Coriander Way, Haydon Wick is accused of destroying a cat called Lucky on November 21 last year, intending to destroy or damage the animal or being reckless as to whether it would be destroyed
He faces another charge of causing the pet unnecessary suffering by running him over with his car, knowing that it was likely to kill him.
Popli has denied the charges and is due to appear in the dock at South East Wiltshire Magistrates’ Court on January 26.
The Swindon bench granted him bail on the condition he did not contact Lucky’s owners.
