The Adver asked readers to named their favourite Swindon cafés, pubs and restaurants ahead of National Hospitality Day.
Of the cafés, Baristocats, Cafe Nexus and The Olive Tree Cafe were most popular with those who got involved on Facebook.
Lindsey Hutchinson wrote: “McCtaff's Cakes & Tea Room do amazing milkshakes, cakes and is always so welcoming.”
Mel Crayford suggested Town Gardens Café, saying: “Always a friendly welcome, a good range of items on the menu, plus dog treats and water for furry visitors.”
Readers also recommended Baila Coffee & Vinyl, Poppins, Darkroom Espresso and Project Coffee.
And there are plenty of pubs you can head to for a pint.
Readers enjoy The Harvey, The Jovial Monk, The Rat Trap, Heart in Hand, The Southbrook Inn, The Blunsdon Arms, The Glue Pot, The Jolly Tar and Manor Farm.
Gemma Peet praised The Crown Inn and wrote: “The landlady goes above and beyond her duty. She would check on my dad, collect his medication, deliver hot dinners and she is just an all round lovely lady. I think she delivered to most of Highworth’s vulnerable.”
For a bite to eat, readers recommended Fratello’s, Gaetano’s and The Raj.
South Swindon MP Robert Buckland plans to visit hospitality businesses in the town today to show his support for National Hospitality Day.
Mr Buckland backed the national initiative earlier this week when he encouraged local businesses to contact him so he could publicise their fundraising efforts and details about offers on his website and on social media.
He hopes to visit the Old Town, including the café in the Town Gardens, this morning.
He said: “In Swindon, we have many brilliant bars, pubs and restaurants who have struggled during the pandemic.
“National Hospitality Day is the perfect opportunity for us to support and celebrate those businesses, whilst also raising money for local charities.
“Local businesses here in Swindon play a vital role within our local economy and it is important that we support them.
Swindon Borough Council leader David Renard also praised the idea.
He said: “We have many fantastic independent eateries and leisure destinations in the borough that have been hit hard by the pandemic so I would encourage local residents to support them if they can during National Hospitality Day.
“After all they have been through, and given the pleasure that they bring to residents, these businesses deserve to be celebrated.”
