AN ELDERLY couple are distraught after someone stole a £2,000 electric bike from outside the West Swindon Asda.
They padlocked their bikes when they visited the supermarket on Tuesday October 19 but when they returned, one of them had disappeared.
The wife of the victim told the Adver: “We’re very upset about this. My husband is 78 years old and the bike was his way of getting some gentle exercise after his health issues.
“He’s lost without it, it was a lifeline for his independence, he really enjoyed cycling and misses it so much. The bikes were securely locked but mine was not taken, probably because it’s worth a lot less.
"Maybe someone saw something or knows where his is."
They are hoping someone finds the grey-black Cube Nature 500 bike and returns it to them.
A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “We’re investigating the theft of an electric-assisted pedal bike stolen from outside Asda in West Swindon between 4.30pm and 4.50pm on October 19. Anyone who saw any suspicious activity or anyone with information should call 101.”
