Residents in the areas of Swindon affected by the notorious Rodbourne Pong are invited to a public meeting to express their views and try to maintain pressure to find the cause and therefore a solution.
Labour councillors from the wards of Western & Mannington and Rodbourne Cheney have organised the meeting to be held at the Des Moffatt Western Community Centre in Somerset Road for Monday.
The smell which is often described as being cheesy or sickly in nature has been affecting the areas of Rodbourne and Rodbourne Cheney for years without any source being identified for it.
It became a a more prominent issue last year during the lockdowns last year because of the Covid-19 pandemic with residents forced to stay at home all day realising it was a more frequent occurrence that they had thought and having little chance to escape it.
There are several theories as to the source of the stink: the Waterside Park recycling and waste processing centre in Rodbourne Cheney, the Thames Water sewage plant and the Crapper landfill site in Royal Wootton Bassett. Investigations continue.
The meeting starts at the community centre at 7pm on Monday.
