SMALL electric vehicles are delivering letters and small parcels to households around Swindon.
The Royal Mail is currently running a six-month trial of two types of electric vehicle which are no bigger than a golf buggy or quad bike in size.
This trial will assess whether the little buggies could be a viable low -carbon alternative to the postal service's larger red vans.
The electric vehicles are able to travel 70-to-90 miles on a single charge and will help to drive down the Royal Mail’s carbon emissions even further.
Swindon is one of five locations in the UK which is included in this trial. The borough council highlighted the trial as part of its campaign to show how the town is becoming more eco-friendly.
A spokesman said: "We all have a part to play to protect our environment and secure our future. Find out how you can take action, no matter how small it may seem, by visiting the Be the Change webpages www.swindon.gov.uk/bethechange"
