A WHOPPING 855 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Swindon in just 24 hours.
In the last seven days, there have been 4,039 positive Covid-19 test results recorded in the borough, which is 2,136 more than the week before. This is a rise of 112.2 per cent.
No new deaths of patients who tested positive for the disease have been recorded.
In Swindon, 84.6 per cent of the population have had one vaccine dose, 78 per cent have had two doses and 54.5 per cent have had the booster as well.
A further 162,572 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases have been recorded in England as of 9am on Saturday, the government said, a new record for daily reported cases in England.
The government said a further 154 people had died in England within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19.
Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have now been 174,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.
