A new accessible play park has been unveiled in Pinehurst - to delight of families and councillors.

Central Swindon North Parish Council opened the new facility at Pinetrees Community Centre this week.

Chair councillor Steph Exell said: “This is a great addition to the parish’s play areas.  We have listened to the views of our parishioners and interested parties to ensure that this play area is both welcoming and inclusive.”

Councillor John Ballman added: “We are thrilled with the development of this new inclusive and secure play park for the Pinehurst area.

"Some time ago we started this journey with ‘Pinehurst Youth and Play’, and now with the establishment and support of Central Swindon North Parish Council, the aspiration has been realised.

"We hope this new play park will bring a lot of joy to our community for many years to come.”

The parish council has been working closely with Mums on a Mission Swindon to ensure the design of the new play park was fully accessible and secure for all abilities.

Anna from Mums on a Mission Swindon, said: “This new play park looks absolutely fantastic!

"Our children have complex needs and they will love using the sensory play panels and the inclusive spinning dish.

"And the swing with the high back is superb because they can sit up and see what's going on.

"The play house is wheelchair accessible and we love the fact that this is a play area where all children of all abilities can play together.

"Our children - who have complex needs - love being outdoors and visiting play parks, just like any other child.

We'd like to say a huge thanks to Central Swindon North Parish Council for all the hard working going into making their play parks accessible and inclusive, because it makes such a massive difference to families like us."
