Otters are regular visitors of many of Wiltshire's best-known rivers and waterways but one particularly poorly otter needed some extra help.
RSPCA Oak and Furrows were called out to an adult otter who was clearly unwell and rescued it
A post on their Facebook about bringing the otter in said: "We were contacted yesterday to go out to an adult Otter who was clearly unwell.
"He came to us for triage and now is being looked after with specialist care.
"Hoping that he continues to improve with support so that he can be returned to the wild."
The Malmesbury-based centre has since provided an update informing people the otter was being moved for more specialist care.
They said: "The lovely little chap is currently on his way to another RSPCA Wildlife hospital for further testing then on to an otter specialist rescue if he is ok!
"Please keep your fingers crossed for this beautiful youngster."
Otters are regularly seen on the Kennet and Avon Canal, the Bristol Avon, the Salisbury Avon, Wylye, Nadder and the Upper Thames.
Otter signs have also been observed in Wiltshire towns such as Chippenham, Salisbury and Swindon.
