Signal Point perfect for railways HQ
I was extremely pleased when I read today's article about Swindon throwing its hat in the ring to become the base for the GBR.
Swindon can offer an immediate 11 storey office block that would cost them virtually nothing right in the centre of Swindon above Swindon Railway Station.
The bonus is that it is already owned by GWR so the cost of the base should be minimal.
So I sincerely hope that this is one of the points put forward by the people handling the bid.

Too small hospital for town population
I see the hospital is close to capacity yet again because of the triple whammy of covid lack of adult social care and not enough beds per population of Swindon.
Four hundred and fifty beds for near 250,000 people is not good enough. Either the Tory party or the house builders need to pay for another hospital.
They are putting people's lives at risk every day. It needs sorting.

PM should resign for Jimmy Savile false claim
Our 'so-called' Prime Minister must surely resign now!
His very 'ill-adjudged' words (not for the first time) have led to Sir Keir Starmer, Leader of the Opposition, being attacked in the street. This is not how a democracy works!
Johnson has been heavily criticised for making a false claim that Sir Keir failed to prosecute serial sex offender Jimmy Savile, when he was director of public prosecutions.
The PM made the remark in Parliament last Monday as he was grilled by MPs over the findings of an interim report on Downing Street parties held during Covid restrictions. Those remarks have surely led to the disgraceful scenes on Monday!
And all this comes just a day after the claim that the PM is eyeing up lucrative work in the US, in case he steps down - despite him boasting "only a tank will remove me" from Downing Street.
This sounds like the words of a dictator.
Steve Cowdry.
