FUEL prices are soaring to record highs but some forecourts around Swindon are offering bargains.
The average price of petrol hit 148.02p per litre yesterday, which means filling a 55-litre family car would cost more than £80.
Breeze Swindon Automat on Newport Street currently has the cheapest petrol and diesel in the borough, with unleaded costing 141.9p a litre and diesel costing 145.9p a litre.
The Asda supermarkets on Thamesdown Drive and the West Swindon Shopping Centre are joint second as both offer petrol at 142.7p a litre and diesel at 146.7p a litre.
Sainsburys Bridgemead and the Ocotal Way Tesco Extra are just a fraction more expensive, with petrol prices of 142.9p a litre and diesel prices at 146.9p a litre.
Sainsburys Stratton has nice round figures of 143p a litre for petrol and 147p for diesel.
The Applegreen Oasis on Great Western Way is slightly pricier with its pumps - 143.8 unleaded petrol and 147.8p diesel.
Anyone in need of the low-carbon fuel LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) can pop over to Applegreen for that too, which offers it at 80.8p a litre.
The prices were compared using Confused.com and may differ slightly today as they were last updated on the website on February 10.
