Owners of the Seven Stars are celebrating after being crowned the best Chinese takeaway in Swindon.
Last month the Adver launched a major competition to find out who serves the finest Chinese food in Swindon.
Hundreds of readers completed an online survey, which finished on January 30, and the shortlist of the public's favourite places to get their chicken chow mein and prawn crackers was revealed.
These takeaways went face to face to be crowned masters of the wok, ahead of the February 20 deadline.
And Seven Stars based in Greenmeadow saw off nine other restaurants to win the competition.
The Chinese takeaway has only been running for six years, which should enhance the reputation of the business as a result of winnnng.
China Kitchen and Eat Well on Cricklade Road came in second and third respectively.
Manager of Seven Stars, Isabelle said she was delighted by the news.
“I’m so happy that the readers and our regular customers voted for us.
“A lot of the votes that came through were for Seven Stars, so I really want to thank all our regular customers for voting for us.
“We’re going to keep our standards high, whilst serving our loyal customers to the best that we can."
Manager Isabelle also mentioned how everybody at Seven Stars was happy about the news.
"The chefs, the staff, they've all played a part because they're the ones that made it happened.
"They're the ones that made the food and the delivery drivers that deliver the food as well.
"They're all part of Seven Stars."
Swindon Advertiser editor Daniel Chipperfield said it was wonderful to see the town’s restaurants profiles raised.
“A huge congratulations to Seven Stars who must be so pleased to have such strong backing from their loyal customers,” he said.
“Support was strong across the board and well done to the runners up, who should all be proud of the reputations they have built for themselves.
“Chinese restaurants have been a staple of the British high street for decades so it’s great to be able to celebrate that.”
The others to compete in the last leg of the competition were:
- Abbey Meads Rendevous
- Swindon Rendevous in Theatre Square
- Terry’s Chinese Takeaway
- Lee’s Chinese Takeaway
- Blue Sky
- Eldene Chinese Takeaway
- Emperors Kitchen
