Swindon commuters have been frustrated by problems with the traffic lights at one of the town's busiest junctions.
Queues have been building on the exits sliproads at Junction 15 of M4 during the rush hour, where drivers access the A419 and A346.
National Highways has now confirmed the source of the problem, which has been ongoing since the end of February.
South West operations manager Ray Morwood said: “We’re working with specialist engineers to resolve a repair to the traffic signals at the top of the M4 westbound exit slip road at junction 15.
“Power was affected at the end of February following a single-vehicle incident, where a car left the carriageway and damaged cabling.
“Signs have been in place since the incident, we apologise for the inconvenience and thank drivers for their patience while we await a specialist part to resolve the issue.”
On March 2, two lorries crashed on the roundabout, which saw it closed during the morning rush hour.
A motorist who uses the roundabout as part of his daily commute and did not wish to be named said: “This has been going for far too long.
“The situation at the roundabout is getting worse with traffic now stretching back onto the M4.
“I’ve used that roundabout for the last two weeks and I am amazed that there haven’t been any more serious incidents in that time.”
