A DRUG dealer in Wroughton has been jailed for supplying cannabis - and his partner has been sentenced for allowing him to use their home to prepare the illegal deals.

Police raided an address on Bladen Close on February 4 2021 after receiving a tip-off, then seized more than half a kilo of cannabis which had been prepared for various street deals along with drug paraphernalia, cash and several mobile phones.

During this warrant, officers arrested Mitchell Hicks, 30, and Chloe Dempster, 33, who were both sentenced in Swindon's courts earlier this month.

Hicks will be behind bars for two years and 11 months after he pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply and being concerned in the supply of cannabis as well as acquiring, using or possessing criminal property.

Dempster received a four-month prison sentence which has been suspended for 12 months after she pleaded guilty to acquiring, using or possessing criminal property and allowing the premises to be used for the supply of a class B drug.

PC Caldwell said: “Hicks and his partner Dempster were storing large amounts of cannabis at their address and not only receiving cash payments but also a large amount of third party payments through illegal means.

“They were well established drug dealers supplying class B drugs on the streets of Swindon. Illegal drugs have a detrimental effect on not just those buying and using the drugs, but also on the local community.

“Both Hicks and Dempster have been reaping the financial rewards while making no contribution themselves to society. I am pleased that our investigation has led to them being put before the courts for their actions.”
