DELAYS are expected on the A419 and M4 around Swindon over the coming days as parts of the former Honda production line are transported to the coast.
The transportation of heavy machinery by road to Avonmouth, Bristol, has been a regular occurrence in recent months and Swindon Police have announced there will be two more convoys of abnormal loads in the coming days - one on Friday (April 8) and one on Sunday (April 10).
After leaving the site, the loads will enter the A419 at The Rat Trap junction and travel southbound to Junction 15 of the M4. They will then travel westbound on the M4 before leaving the county at Tormarton.
They are due to leave Honda at 9.30am and should pass Junction 18 into south Gloucestershire by 11.30am.
Each move will consist of various parts from the press lines, together with associated Private and Police escort vehicles.
The width of the parts means the loads are likely to be slow moving and have the potential to create congestion in places.
Wherever possible, disruption will be kept to a minimum although both hauliers and motorists are asked to please be patient should they come across this move.
Anyone travelling in the vicinity over this period on time critical matters should allow sufficient additional time for their journey.

Similar trips were made in January and February this year.
A spokesperson from Honda previously told The Adver: "As part of Honda UK Manufacturing’s (Honda) decommissioning activity, a series of abnormal load convoys departed the Swindon factory over a four-day period in January.
"Honda engaged with the equipment purchaser and all relevant parties to best mitigate disruption to local traffic."
It is unclear how many more potentially disruptive journeys will need to be made.
"The remaining equipment being decommissioned will be assessed for how best to transport it from the Swindon site," the spokesperson said.
"Honda will continue to work with the buyer to ensure that all relevant parties are kept informed."

The car plant was the home of the Japanese vehicle manufacturer for three decades until last summer when it was decommissioned and all of the workers were made redundant.
The Honda site is now owned by development company Panattoni, which just last mont revealed plans for its'world-class' £700 million redevelopment of the South Marston site.
The plans suggest 10 units will be built transforming what was a factory and surrounding land into high-end industrial, storage and distribution spaces.
